Madhur Anand
Madhur is an associate professor of science (ecology) at the University of Guelph and Canada Research Chair in Global Ecological Change. A central theme of her research is finding mathematical tools and concepts which allow for reliable future predictions in ecology. The focus of her work is studying the complexity of forest ecosystems and how they respond to disturbance. Her PhD research (University of Western Ontario, 1997), won the Award for Excellence in Research and Technology Development (Ministry of Environment and Energy).
Madhur then went on to international postdoctoral experiences in Italy, the Netherlands, Israel and the United States. She holds an NSERC research grant for studies on the reorganization of ecosystems after manmade perturbation. She has published many papers and won many awards in her field of science, including the Premier's Research excellence Award (2002) and the University of Western Ontario Young Alumni Award of Merit (2005). Among other academic activities, Madhur is an associate editor for the scientific journal "Community Ecology".
