David Kantor

David was an academic scholar and athlete at Blakelock and later at Queen's University. While at Queen's, he was a CIAU All-Canadian in volleyball. In the school years 1994-95 and 1995-96 David won the Top 10 Academic All-Canadian Award. In 1996, he also won the TSN Award, presented to one university volleyball player across Canada who demonstrates great academic and athletic achievement combined with community service. David was named Queen's Male Athlete of the Year in 1996. In 1996, he graduated with a degree in civil engineering.

David is also a former member of the Canadian volleyball team (1997-2001). In 1999, Canada won a Bronze Medal at the Pan Am Games. During his career with Team Canada, David also played on professional volleyball clubs in Holland, Belgium, Spain and Germany. After retiring from volleyball, David began working in the environmental engineering field. David chaired the fundraising sub-committee for the Oakville Hosting Committee of World Youth Day (2002) and is the co-founder of the Oakville Catholic Youth Organization. Currently David, along with his wife, Gillian, are planning a mission trip across the world in 2008, with stops in Europe, Israel, India and ending in Sydney, Australia where they will be volunteering for World Youth Day, 2008.
