Freedom to Read Week This week is Freedom to Read Week.  “Freedom to Read Week is an annual event that encourages Canadians to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom, which is guaranteed them under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.”  Here is just a few books that have been banned or challenged over the years:   Animal Farm, Harry Potter series, Handmaid’s Tale, The Book of Negroes, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.  Come to the library and check out the Banned Book display or go to  for further information.
