2010 Inductees

Nancy Walker

        Nancy is a jazz pianist and composer who is enjoying a multifaceted musical career. Her four jazz CDs, Invitation, Luminosity, Levitation and When She Dreams were all released with high critical acclaim. In 2005, Nancy  received four nominations at the National Jazz Awards, including Keyboardist of the Year, Musician of the Year, Acoustic Group of the Year and Album of the Year. In 2008,  she won the National Jazz Awards, Keyboardist of the Year Award.

        Nancy started out as a sideperson for a variety of artists including Raffi, The Parachute Club, Sylvia Tyson, Roger Whitaker and Hagood Hardy. She has travelled across Canada, including performances at the Montreal Jazz Festival. She has also toured in Europe and the United States where she has performed at numerous venues including Carnegie Hall.

Mark Bramer

        Mark is currently a Professor of Wood Technology at Conestoga College in Kitchener. He is a master cabinetmaker and began his career working in the wood industry in both small custom shops and also one of Canada's largest production facilities. His expertise led him to developing training which eventually led him to teaching at the University of British Columbia and Conestoga College.

        Mark is an integral part of Skills Canada and coached a Canadian competitor to the Gold Medal in the World Skills competition.He has won teaching and research awards and has authored a textbook used in secondary school wood curriculum. Mark is currently writing the curriculum for the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Apprenticeship Program for the government of Alberta.
